Recent tournament success
Wimbledon Karate Jutsu celebrates a successful start to the summer. Only 18-months after the community sports group was launched to increase local participation in martial arts, junior members took part in their first national-level tournament in Ashford, Kent last weekend. The tournament was attended by competitors from across the country, with a strong level of competition in both adults and children’s categories. All competitors from Wimbledon did well, with one junior reaching the final 16 students in the junior kata competition.
Club instructors Sempai Ellie Murphy and Sempai Matt Bolt went head-to-head in the senior kata competition, coming 2nd and 3rd overall respectively. Sempai Ellie Murphy also took 1st place in the senior women’s kumite and kickboxing events for the second year running.

The club will be running as normal throughout the school summer holidays.

Summer Camp 2011
The Annual Karate Jutsu Summer Training Camp took place in Sondorborg, Denmark, from 10-16th July and was attended by over 60 students from countries around world.
This was a good opportunity to learn from Kancho Bernard Creton, our chief instructor, and Sempai Matt and myself will be corporating this learning into classes over the coming weeks.
The summer camp also marked the promotion of our area Sensei for London, Tim Goullet, to the grade of 5th Dan. Tim now takes the title of Shihan Tim, and we hope to see him visiting Wimbledon club again soon to share his knowledge with our junior students. Finally Sensei Daniel Creton, who has visited Wimbledon club to undertake gradings, has been promoted to the grade of 4th Dan, and similarly we hope to see him at Wimbledon dojo soon.
Very much looking forward to travelling out again next year!
